Ava's First Christmas

I think Ava really enjoyed her first Christmas, she slept through most of it! Her favorite part was definitely the tree. She loved to stare at the lights while she was falling asleep. I told Brian that we should keep it up year round :) She is getting so big, it is amazing, and she is starting to look more like her dad too, but the cheeks are still obviously from me! This girl has some fabulous cheeks! We were in the mall the other day and we heard this couple as they walked by whispering, "did you see that baby's cheeks?" It was pretty cute.

Homebirth Baby Party

A few weeks ago all of the families from our homebirth class got together for a wonderful lunch with the babies. It was so fun getting to see all of the babies together! Ava was the only baby that slept through the entire party, which made her ideal for photos! Here is a link to view the pictures from the party. The ones toward the end are of all the babies lined up in birth order. You will notice that Ava is second to last. The youngest baby was born 3 days after her, and the oldest one born 2 months before her. These babies are so cute!!

Here is a recent picture of her, taken a few days ago. I think she loves her headband :)

Smiley face :)

Ava is 5 weeks old today and she is growing like a weed! Her newest accomplishment this week was her smile. She has been smiling since she was born, but of course, never knew what she was doing. Well this week she started smiling in response to our voices....especially her dad's! Every time he talks to her she smiles and laughs like it's the best thing in the world. It is so cute. Don't get me wrong, she smiles at me too, except when she's nursing, then she looks at me with one eye and her famous scowl. I swear if she could talk she would be saying "don't move a muscle mama." Those of you who have seen her know her scowl is quite serious, it is adorable. Here is a picture her dad took while she was smiling at him. What a beautiful thing.

A visit from the Viscarra's

We had a lovely visit from the Viscarra's while they were on their way home from vacation. Everyone got to snuggle the baby and we got a couple of gifts and chocolate! All in all a great visit! Vicente talked non-stop about everything, his papa and Gus, trains, his trip, his bro, etc. Then he swept our backyard for us, it was great. He tried to pick oranges from our tree, but they weren't quite ripe yet, so he tried to get them down by throwing one up into the tree, but that didn't work either. All the while Diego was eating dirt and Ava was sleeping. We can't wait to have them back, our deck needs sweeping again :)

Ava's first bath

Ava had her first bath today, well, at least her first bath by herself. I think she enjoyed it, mostly she looked at us like "what are you doing to me," but that is her usual look so we didn't think much of it. Her hair has been standing up on end ever since we dried her off....I wonder if it will stay that way. It is pretty cute! I always wanted a mohawk! You can also see that she is getting plenty to eat, in case any of you were worried :)

Bruce says Hello

Hi Baby Ava,
I am so glad you are here. I just love to give you kisses...slobber, slobber, and your toys are so much fun. All this playing together has really worn me out though, I am so glad we can take naps together.
Love, Bruce...more slobber :)

Welcome Ava!

Our little one is finally here! After 5 hours of labor and a very successful home birth, Ava Cameron made her appearance on Oct. 15th at 6:07 am. She was 6 lbs, 14 oz and 18 inches long. We just think she is the most wonderful thing on this earth!

Our due date has come and gone folks! Thankfully our Aunt Lou took our photo so that we could remember it. So I guess our baby is just as snug as a bug in a rug :) We will keep you posted!

Preggo Pizza

We ate the famous "Preggo Pizza" last week, obviously it didn't work because we are still waiting on baby :) although, it did manage to give Brian heartburn! If you can't tell from the picture, the pizza has 2 inches of toppings most of it being meat (all kinds) and garlic and onions. We could barely eat 2 pieces, which is abnormal for us!

Don't forget Bruce...

Our blog wouldn't be complete without a picture of Bruce. He is about to become a big brother soon, and we are hoping this will force him to grow up!
